Group offers some advantages over individual therapy, although often both combined is most effective.  Group is particularly useful in helping you learn (in ways you might not already know) how you function in relationships, and how that is or isn't effective in getting your interpersonal needs met.  You'll then have the opportunity to learn new ways.  When we get needs met, there's more satisfation in life and depression and anxiety are often reduced or eliminated.

Group is experiential
In individual therapy we often find you talking about things going on in your life, but outside the room.  In group, the same patterns that come up in your outside relationships will emerge.  We then have an opportunity to intervene "in the moment" to help you better understand your internal experience (thoughts and feelings) and find responses that will work better for you, to get what you want.

Group is safe and confidential
Group is safe and confidential and provided with guidance and support.  Members aren't pressured to participate before they're ready.  Most are anxious at first, but are increasingly at ease as time passes.

Why join a therapy group?
* for more intimate personal relationships
* for more effective work interactions
* to learn how to express yourself more fully and spontaneously
* to reduce inhibitions, shyness, social anxiety, loneliness
* for anger problems (learn alternatives to "stuffing it" or exploding)
* to learn to be stop being so "people pleasing" that you can't get your voice heard, or your needs met
* if you have relationship-related depression or anxiety
