Welcome! I'm often asked, "What's your approach?" While I draw from extensive
education,
training and experience and many approaches, I'm always guided by you - your individual style, needs, goals, circumstances and
preferences. We'll have an ongoing conversation about how counseling is going for you, because I want you to make
significant accomplishments. I work hard to help you feel comfortable, as you begin to feel gains and more confidence.
Psychotherapy can alleviate, reduce or eliminate symptoms of anxiety and depression, help build self-esteem, self-confidence
and an "
authentic self," and improve relationships, at home and at work.
Build Self-Confidence
and Better Relationships (at home and at work)
Anxiety
& Stress: My practice specializes in helping people reduce stress, anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive worry, social anxiety, phobias, and learn how to live more comfortably with normal, everyday stress and anxiety.
Relationship problems: Build
confidence, have more intimate personal relationships, be more effective at work, manage anger better, develop good boundaries
(learn how to say, "no"), become more expressive, spontaneous and assertive, learn how and when to trust, and more.
Trauma or
PTSD: Resolve past trauma so it doesn't continue to affect your current life. People often don't realize that it's trauma that could
be keeping them "stuck" in "automatic" patterns of thinking, emotions and behavior that don't work well for getting satisfaction in
life.
Depression: Depression is often linked to relationship problems and other areas of life that aren't working. Resolving
these problems and learning skills for living often lifts depression. Medication can be helpful, but it's been demonstrated that psychotherapy,
together with medication has a more significant and lasting impact. Some begin on medication and taper off in later phases of treatment.
Some choose not to take medication at all. Everyone is different.
Addictions: I have an MA Specialization in Addiction
Studies and have helped people with substance abuse, compulsive behavior and addictions for over 20 years.
